Online Periodical System Moves to Meet Buzzword-Compliance
TurboPress is not "the best thing since sliced bread for online publishers" but rather a "fully featured optimized functionality which postdates the launch phase of useability-enhanced gluten-consumables for the content management-focused cross-media audience".
"We figure buzzword-compliance is the next big thing, having survived the Y2K meltdown," says WebCentre Development Director Peter Hyde, vowing to dramatically increase the syllable count in describing the new TurboPress Web automation system for managing online periodicals.
Communication is the key to publishing, and Hyde admits to being puzzled at times when trying to understand the features of software targeted at online publishers.
"We try to be straightforward about what TurboPress can do for people trying to manage online newspapers, magazines or journals," says Hyde. "It puts all your issue content online with all the indexing, links and site structure, everything, done automatically. It lets you decide who gets to see what and how much they pay. It lets you talk to all your subscribers or site visitors or authors quickly and simply. You can run on-site surveys, track visitors and see what people are looking at, check out how well your advertisers are doing. It really is the best thing since sliced bread."
Hyde cites strong links between publishers and software engineers in the WebCentre development team as contributing to both the tight focus on publisher needs and the clear description of what the TurboPress system does.
"We prefer plain English to all the marketing speak, but maybe we can offer a buzzword-compliant section on the TurboPress site -- just look for the huge animated gif announcing a flash movie..."
Plain-speaking people looking for an answer to the problem of managing an online periodical can talk to the TurboPress team at Booth 1026 at Seybold Boston, Hyne Convention Center, Level One, February 9-11. The new release of the fully functional TurboPress trial can be downloaded or ordered in CD form from the TurboPress Web site at http://TurboPress.com.
