LET ELIAN GO HOME TO HIS FATHER
Announcing A Web Site Promoting Freedom For Elian Gonzalez
www.geocities.com/pathtofreedom
January 20, 2000 - United States. Neighbors in our global village can join in one voice at this interactive web site . Links are provided to the latest news stories, editorials, and articles, enabling users to be kept up-to-date on events surrounding Elian Gonzalez. Designed to promote universal involvement at the "grass roots" level, it lets supporters of this cause contact world officials, sign an international petition, and join a
worldwide TV boycott of the Super Bowl.
Elian Gonzalez is the six-year-old boy from Cuba found at sea off Florida after surviving a failed attempt by a boatload of illegal Cuban migrants to reach the United States. His mother drowned in the attempt. Since November 26, Elian has not been permitted to return to his father Juan
Gonzalez. This web site was established to protest the continuing injustice of illegally retaining a minor in violation of both U.S. and International Law.
"We are hoping to reach out to others who feel the same about the sacred bond between father and child," says Jules Dervaes, founder of www.geocities.com/pathtofreedom. "Our focus is on Elian's condition and the plight of his father. We are upset that the authorities have not enforced the law and easily put an end to this sick travesty. Elian should be freed without delay because of the laws that are on the books and because of the law that should be in our hearts."
