Jewish communities now on jewish.co.uk
23 January 2000 - jewish.co.uk (http://www.jewish.co.uk) the UK Jewish
community portal and resource to all things Jewish and more, has added and
is beta-testing a number of new services and features to its continually
expanding site.
The introduction of Jewish jokes, a free listing Jewish diary of social and
cultural events, explanations of the weekly Torah (Bible) portion and
regional community guides further shows jewish.co.uk's commitment to being
the leading Web site for UK Jews and Jewish visitors to the United Kingdom.
The new content complements the existing service that delivers a directory
of UK Synagogues, World Jewish News, Guide to Jewish Festivals, Jewish
Glossary and other Jewish focused features.
The weekly Torah (Bible) commentary is written by Rabbi Jeremy Rosen of
Yakar, a leading religious, cultural and educational organisation. Jeremy
produces the commentary on Thursdays, in an easy to understand style which
describes what people will hear about when they go to Synagogue on Saturday
(the Jewish Sabbath).
The Jewish guide to North East England has been supplied by
JewishNorthEast.org.uk jewish.co.uk welcomes other communities and
communal
organisations to utilise the facility which allows more people to read about
and discover their communities.
Jewish jokes came as a result of demand from users keen to see the
best/worst Jewish flavoured humour. Only the best/worst will make it to
jewish.co.uk's monthly joke update!
The Jewish Diary is a free service allowing groups and organisations to
advertise their social and cultural events by sending in details via e-mail.
"jewish.co.uk as the UK's first Jewish community Web site is always about
