COMPLAINT lodged by Veterinarian against, Michael Holloway of Pet Massage Rehabilitation Services, Inc. of Boca Raton, Fl
A Complaint was lodged by Dr. Ronald Stone of Miami, Fl, who filed a complaint with the Department of Business & Professional Regulation: who oversees these matters; because Stone feels that Mr. Holloways work is tantamount to practicing Veterinarian medicine without a license according to Florida Statutes 474.202 (13).
- Holloways position is that he is only offering massage therapy to animals, he does not prescribe, he does not perform surgery, he does not manipulate the spine of the animal: he only massages the animal that needs comfort. In fact, many Veterinarians refer, support and applaud his work, says Holloway.
Here is an example of an idiopathic condition described by the attending veterinarian in which the best advice given to the owners was to put their dog down.
I came to see Ben after his owner Barbara had run the gamut of veterinarians and specialists giving here an expensive diagnosis from a full x-ray series of Bens entire body, leaving her with their best guess. Barbara was told that Ben had arthritis and that it would be in Bens best interest to be put down. Obviously the diagnosis was not acceptable to Barbara and something else had to be done. Barbara heard about Pet Massage Rehab Services so she decided to call and set an appointment for Ben to be assessed again.
The way the law is written a paid dog walker could be charged with practicing Veterinarian medicine without a license says Mr. Holloways attorney Steven Logan
