AT&T Battles Canadian Entrepreneurs in Domain Name Dispute

AT&T Corp. has filed a domain name complaint on September 26, 2000 with the World Intellectual Property Organization ( WIPO" ) against Fredrick L. Rice of Hamilton Ontario.

AT&T Corp. is attempting a Reverse Domain Name Hijacking" after 19 months of unsuccessful solicitations to purchase 3 URLs from Mr. Rice.

Mr. Rice and 21 year old young entrepreneur Ms. Stephanie L. Beaton have co-founded 2 internet companies. Collectively they own more than 100 domain names, and operate about 25 websites.

The disputed domain names are operated by Ms. Beaton. The sites went live" on Sept. 20, 1999 and were last updated on Sept. 29, 2000. Copies of our correspondence with AT&T Corp. will be available on the sites within days.
