Toronto, Ontario -- October 5, 2000 - Paradigm Advanced Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ OTCBB: PRAV), today announced the appointment of J. Edward Antecol, as General Counsel. Mr. Antecol is the former Regulatory Vice President for AT&T Canada Corp. Mr. Antecol will act as Paradigms principal advisor on all contractual and legal matters and will play a key role in protecting Paradigms intellectual properties including the licensing of companies using the process covered by patent US Patent #B1 5,043,736. Paradigm owns the exclusive licensing rights to US Patent #B1 5,043,736 which is a broad-based wireless patent for the apparatus and method of transmitting position information from satellite navigational signals (like GPS) over cellular systems to a base unit.
Mr. Antecol held progressive positions with AT&T Canada Corp. and its predecessors from 1993 to 2000. As Regulatory Vice President, Mr. Antecol was responsible for the representation of AT&T Canada Corp.s interests with respect to regulatory matters before the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Prior to that, Mr. Antecol was a senior legal counsel for AT&T Canada Corp. where he was involved in providing legal advice on a broad range of corporate commercial matters.
Mr. Antecol holds an LL.B from the University of Toronto (1991) and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1993. In addition to his legal qualifications, Mr. Antecol also holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Electrical (Systems) Engineering from Carleton University where he was awarded the University Medal for Academic Achievement in 1981. Prior to his legal practice, Mr. Antecol worked as a software developer for Bell Northern Research and as a software team leader for the Avionics division of Leigh Instruments.
