Japanese Poetry to Decide American Elections

Election Resource Center features Haikus, Power Ranking, and Candidate Links

Arlington, VA – Today, YourCongress.com announced the creation of an Election Resource Center that will help give American voters all the information they need to make an informed decision on November 7.

What does the American voter need to make the right decision? Three things, according to YourCongress.com:
**   Email and website addresses for every candidate in every House and Senate seat
**   A non-partisan Power Ranking of their current Representative or Senator
**     Japanese poetry, specifically haikus

YourCongress.com added these three features to its current Congressional Directory which includes a unique online profile of every elected official in Congress. Visitors can simply click on the name of any Representative or Senator to access the new information.

On todays announcement, YourCongress.com Founder and CEO Christopher Porter said:

As proven by this weeks debates, what Washington needs most is a sense of humor. Anyone can do his or her civic duty and also get a laugh by visiting YourCongress.coms Election Resource Center."

The haikus, written by YCDC staff, have proven to be very popular. While steadfastly non-partisan, they range from eloquent to silly to biting. Examples:

**Senator Max Cleland (D-GA), paralyzed vet
If you have a brain
doesn't matter what other
parts are M.I.A.

**Congressman Richard Pombo (R-CA), pro-West advocate
Bumpity bumpi
ty bumpity bump BO NAN
ZA! It's his theme song

**Senator Rod Grams (R-CA), in a tough election in Minnesota

DWI
till he spent the night in jail
sobered him up fast

An electronic version of the full set of the Congress 2000 Haikus can be bought through YourCongress.com
