Purdue Press Launches ScholarlyZone
Purdue University Press (http://www.thepress.purdue.edu) has launched the ScholarlyZone (http://www.groksoup.com/Site/scholarlyzone/), a new web log on Groksoup (http://www.groksoup.com). Thomas Bacher, Director of the Purdue University Press, views the endeavor as a forum to bring faculty, researchers, administrators, librarians, and publishers together to discuss issues surrounding and changing the field of scholarly intercourse. Action without discussion is a dead-end proposition. Stakeholders need to find common ground to further scholarship while solving costs, rights, and other issues. Innovation and solutions are a direct result of the exchange of ideas."
Purdue University Press, now in its fortieth year, was founded in 1960. The Press is a department of the Libraries at Purdue University. Specializing in the areas of business, technology, and health, the Press publishes between 30-35 traditional books and other projects annually.
