National Charity Forgets Musician
Hockessin, DE- November 16, 2000 -A national organization who assists persons' with Alzheimer's disease has warned a Delaware musician to stop saying he is giving them money.
Iggy Taylor, A.K.A. "Bad Betsy", has for the past year, been giving all of his earnings as a musician to the Delaware Chapter. "Both my parents passed away from Alzheimer's Disease. It was difficult to watch them decline so rapidly, but even harder to choose proper care." After Taylor's parents passed away, Taylor felt a need to assist the charity that had helped him. The result has been three C.D.'s of original music and countless interviews. The Delaware Chapter has publically thanked Taylor for his support and even assisted him with a "Bad Betsy" booth at one of their recent fund raisers.
October 23, Taylor was telephoned by a gentleman identifying himself as "Chief Council" out of Chicago. Taylor was told to stop saying, publically, he was donating his profits. "I asked if I could continue to give them money and was told, "of course, just don't say it's to us" "This greatly hampers my efforts to get the word out", Taylor said of the phone call.
Immediately after the call Taylor removed all references to the organization in eight restaurants and at least twenty web sites. "It's sad for both of us. I estimated at least 25,000 people, per week, read my message. I was in no way trying to connect myself with these people, I was only trying to help."
Taylor says he will continue to write music and search for other ways to make a difference.
