Brewpub Introduces Hanging Chad Ale
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - On November 17, 2000 the Cedar Brewing Company introduced its new beer, Hanging Chad Ale – a non-partisan brew. This flavorful unfiltered ale contains a little bit of oatmeal and choice German and American malted barley.
Why Hanging Chad Ale? Brewmaster Mike Snyder said Naming a beer is the
toughest part of the brewing process so I left this one up to the owner, Rob
Copenhaver". In the words of Copenhaver, Pregnant Chad Ale did not sound politically correct so I went with Hanging Chad Ale". Snyder predicts that the beer will be sold out before the next President Elect is decided!
The Cedar Brewing Company, established February 1996, is Cedar Rapids' first brewery since prohibition. It is a brewpub; meaning, in addition to brewing hand-crafted ales and sodas, it is also a restaurant offering a wide variety of food for lunch and dinner. Their specialty is their smokehouse featuring slow hickory smoked prime rib, brisket, ribs and rosemary garlic chicken. The Cedar
Brewing Company has 17 - 25" televisions and two big screens for watching sports and playing the live interactive National Trivia Network (NTN) games.
