WEBHOSTING COMPANY HELPS THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER
West Haven, CT -- Periwinkle Communications LLC is proud to announce its participation in the "Huskymaniacs vs. Cancer" campaign. As well as pledging its support through a monetary pledge, Periwinkle programmers have helped provide an online pledge gathering system.
The HuskyManiacs vs. Cancer web site, located at http://www.huskymaniacs.org
was created after a group of University of Connecticut basketball fans became inspired by the news that UCONN Women's team Coach Geno Auriemma had pledged to make a donation to the very successful Coaches Vs. Cancer division of the American Cancer Society. His pledge was to donate $10 per 3 point basket that his UCONN women's team made during the 2000-2001 basketball season.
Both Coach Auriemma and Coach Jim Calhoun, head coach of the UConn Men's basketball team have strongly supported the Coaches vs. Cancer efforts.
The Huskymaniacs vs. Cancer effort, which has gained the support of the Coaches vs. Cancer program, has gathered over $4000 worth of pledges to date.
Nancy Pfaff, founder of Huskymanics vs. Cancer, explains "Fans can pledge their support by either making a flat donation, or by pledging to donate a certain amount per 3 point made by the UCONN women's, men's or both basketball teams. We welcome donations of any size."
As a graduate of the University of Connecticut, Periwinkle owner, Brett Rabideau, has been a long time supporter of UCONN Basketball. In February 1995, just prior to founding Periwinkle Communications, she began an online UCONN basketball mailing list (see http://www.uconn-bball.com ) which grew into a UConn basketball community who not only talk about the games online, but also get together for at least one away game each year.
"I am a proud graduate of the University of Connecticut, and an avid fan of Uconn Basketball", Rabideau says. "I am happy to be able to connect myself with such a worthy cause."
