Satellites and Internet mapping make it easier to track everything from lost pets to stolen cars
Toronto, ON (December 1, 2000) -- Paradigm Advanced Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB -- PRAV) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, PowerLOC Technologies is integrating Maptuits location-based services technology into its L-Biz framework, a suite of products enabling mobile tracking applications using global positioning satellite (GPS) data and the Internet.
PowerLOC (www.powerloc.com) selected Maptuits maptuit.server service to power their technology, providing address lookup, map rendering, route calculation and proximity searching. Applications including Fleet Management, Asset Tracking, Theft Prevention and the Location of Lost Pets are possible using PowerLOCs comprehensive end-to-end integrated solutions.
As a pioneer in the Location Service Provider (LSP) space, PowerLOC licenses its L-Biz technology, using co-ordinates transmitted between satellites and mobile GPS devices to track the location of people, pets, and vehicles in motion. Maptuits technology, built on a comprehensive road network of North America, will enable PowerLOCs servers to track signals from the mobile GPS devices, (concealed in a vehicle) against actual roadways and addresses or latitude/longitude co-ordinates. The location of the device is then displayed in real-time on a computer screen, PDA, or any other wireless device using the Internet.
Maptuits service provides a solid Internet-based foundation on which we can deploy our L-Biz technology," says Eduardo Guendelman President/CEO of Paradigm, PowerLOCs parent company. Were a fast moving company and after careful due diligence, we found in Maptuit, a company that can actually deliver on the promise of location-based map and routing services, and in todays economy time-to-market is critical for success."
PowerLOC is a good example of the type of company whose services require a comprehensive, geospatial system that is truly global in scope", says Jeff Papows, Maptuits President and CEO. Maptuit looks forward to continuing to support PowerLOC as it deploys its revolutionary tracking services across a range of innovative new applications."
Maptuits technology, built on a comprehensive road network of North America provides the means with which to associate a location captured from a GPS receiver with a street address. Given a GPS coordinate, Maptuit can render a map of the location on a variety of devices, calculate routes to or from the coordinate to a destination, and perform a search of a database for selected items within a given proximity.
PowerLOCs L-Biz technology includes:
1. The Mobiles - Ergonomically designed, low-cost, mobile-location GPS tracking devices that transmit their positions over existing national and international cellular wireless networks of all types.
2. The Tracker - A centrally managed server that connects directly to the wireless network and manages tens of thousands of the mobile devices.
3. The Client - Client software that runs on any PC with Internet access, allowing the user to locate one or more mobile devices on a map. The software also provides other useful data, including direction, speed, previous movements and even crash detection.
