An estimated one million Americans live with Crohns disease or ulcerative colitis. These diseases cause severe inflammation of the intestinal tract. While Crohns disease can affect persons of any age, they are most likely to strike adolescents and young adults between the ages of 15 and 35. In fact, 10% of all patients are under 18. There is no medical cure, and people who are severely ill may require surgery. Both diseases can flare-up without warning, sometimes causing patients to be confined to their homes for long periods of time. Patients rely on the Internet for education and support. CCFAs site empowers people to take an active role in managing their disease.
We are extremely grateful to P&G, Roska Direct, and AIM for honoring CCFA at this years charity dinner," says James V. Romano, Ph.D., President and CEO of CCFA, The Internet is vital to Crohns and colitis patients. Currently, CCFA is working to enhance its Web site to meet the growing demands of todays interactive savvy audience."
CCFA has identified the Web initiative as the foundations top strategic priority for 2001. The foundations goal is to provide a more valuable experience for the nearly 100,000 monthly site visitors, and to reach out to untapped audiences.
