ROYAL MARINES' HISTORY PUBLISHED AFTER 66 YEARS
The History of the Royal Marines, in three volumes, (1755-1914) was written by General Sir H E Blumberg in the 1930's. This carefully researched and authoritative history was available only to the very few, as only three copies are in existence.
The Royal Marines Historical Society, wishing to preserve these volumes in perpetuity and at the same time make them available to a wider audience has entrusted the digitisation and publication of these historic documents to the Archive Britain Campaign.
Available now in three CD-ROM's covering the periods 1755-1792, 1793-1836, and 1837-1914, they give a fascinating insight into the development of the "Navy's Soldiers". Not only do these volumes cover the world-wide military action of the Royal Marines but also details of their uniforms, arms, pay, quarters, discipline and punishment have been researched and recorded.
Contents include The Seven Years War, the American War of Independence, escorting the first convicts to the Australia, the French Revolutionary Wars, the Two Napoleonic Wars, the American War, the Argentine, New Zealand, Ireland, Burma, the Soudan, Gambia, Crete, the war in the Crimea, the China War, the Zulu war and the Boxer Rising to name but a few.
A PC, CD-ROM drive, Windows 95/98 NT4 or greater and Internet Explorer version 4 or greater are required for viewing the CD-ROM's.
