RESOLUTION SLACKERS APPLAUD WEB SITE SERVICE

A Web site specializing in reminding people of their often-forgotten New Year's resolutions has launched additional services and a new look for this new year in hopes of helping even more people reach their goals in 2001.

"I have been operating this site since 1997, basically sending out thousands of monthly e-mails to my subscribers that remind them of the goals they wanted to reach throughout the year and providing informational links specific to those very goals," said the site's creator, Troy Surratt of Denver.

"This year I've added some extras. There's an expanded community area where subscribers can chat or post messages, comments, questions, and advise for each other. They can even find a resolution e-mail buddy to write, who understands what they are going through in trying to quit smoking or stick to their diet."

For those who would like to remind others of resolutions they ought to keep (hint, hint) there is a newly added postcard section where you'll find some humorous, gentle (and not-so-gentle) suggestions.

Currently Surratt reports that there are about 5,000 subscribers to this free service from all over the world. He sends out over 20,000 goal reminders each month to seemingly happy recipients. A subscriber from Indianapolis says, "It's nice to have little reminders every now and then. I've lost about 75 lbs since I first asked for these little reminders, and they have sometimes given me the extra push I needed to continue to exercise or eat right!" Another from Philadelphia attests, "I used it last year and it really make me stick to my resolution more. The web sites given were very informative and helpful."

The site has grown from a list of 300 sign-ups from Surratt's homepage back in 1997 to a growing business with serious resolutions of it's own. Surratt is looking to towards initial advertising revenues and companion services to generate revenues and turn his one-time hobby into a new way of life. "I have been running the site for three years on the weekends, while working full-time for an internet development company. With that company's office closing, I'll be able to work full-time on the site now."

He also just launched an online dating site in conjunction with the Resolutions Reminders revamp. Called VirtuallyEverAfter.com, it gives singles with romantic resolutions more opportunities to meet new people.

Surratt says he has other online developments in the works, all with the intention of helping people who want to help themselves to a better life. For our sake, let's keep him to that resolution.
