The massacre in Massachusetts today is the extreme example of what Spokane business consultant and speaker, Danna Beal, has addressed in her book, The Tragedy in the Workplace. It has been inspired by her experiences working in a wide variety of businesses for the past twenty years including; CPA firms, hospitals, law firms, insurance companies, banks, car dealerships, non profits, museums and the retirement industry, to name a few. Through her consulting and workshops, she has realized that people everywhere are experiencing immense pain and suffering in the workplace and that the workplace has become a literal combat zone.

Todays working environment is comprised of battling egos and widespread fear and insecurity. Managers are disempowering employees and employees are sabotaging one another. Those immersed in the drama have difficulty seeing a solution or, even discerning the problem. This serious situation in the work environment is the result of disempowered human beings trying to empower themselves at the expense of others in the workplace. It is a national problem that is escalating.

She has created a new model that has been extremely well received by business leaders who recognize this massive problem. This model is different from other programs and books because it goes to the source of the power struggles and workplace dysfunction. It is not just a prescription for changing behavior. Her model presents a process that starts with leadership. Her seminar, Bringing Spirit and Compassion to the Workplace: A New Model for Leadership," has been sponsored by the Spokane Regional Chamber of Commerce three times and received outstanding ratings from Spokane area business leaders.

Her book is described as The Longest Running Show in the Country --Seen not in your local theater, but, in every business in America." The current workplace, according to her model, is a drama; complete with stage, cast, roles, plot, and climax. Her model gives immediate clarity and insight to the pain and suffering, so that people are able to accept the model with less resistance and see new ways of operating in the workplace. Through this model, she teaches practical and experiential ways to remove the barriers that prevent enlightened leadership.

The purpose of her book is described below:

This book is about rebuilding relationships in the workplace by honoring the spirit in ourselves and in others residing beneath our self-created identities that battle and fight for power and validation. This shallow interpretation of ourselves, a shabby imitation we have come to believe is true, belies our incredible authentic power. One day, when fear can be replaced with trust and compassion for one another, there will be a shift in consciousness. People everywhere will be restored to their true identities, their inner spiritual greatness that was intended by the Creator. To this end, the book is dedicated.

Those who have read the book or attended her seminars based on the book are excited by its originality and clarity. This book is not a rehash of other writers ideas. People who are in psychology, higher education, business, and even the military have validated her model for leadership with compassion and have described it as a new contribution to this critical problem in the workplace today.

She has been a speaker, trainer and consultant, working with managers and employees of most major industries. People are crying out for understanding and relief to this grave problem. The response from every person she meets is that her book is a much-needed answer to this national tragedy. Her book is important because it is:

·   Timely
·   Needed by the masses
·   Brings clarity to the web of intertwined egos in the workplace
·   Original
·   Teaches how to heal the workplace by unraveling the chain reactions of egos
