BEIT NEW YORK-JERUSALEM LAUNCHES WEBSITE
New Website connects Jews in New York with Jews of Jerusalem
Jerusalem, Israel, (February 3, 2000) -- Beit New York-Jerusalem, a Partnership 2000 Project, jointly sponsored by the UJA-Federation of New York, The Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) and the Jerusalem Municipality, this week, opened their Website to the public. The Website, which is located at http://www.beitnyjer.org.il, will enable citizens of New York and Jerusalem to become acquainted with one another in an aim to create connections amongst Jews and eliminate stereotypes.
This interactive Website is unique in its goals of creating bonds amongst Jews. The site will offer residents of New York City, Long Island and Westchester the opportunity to use the Internet as a way of becoming directly and personally involved with the people and the city of Jerusalem.

The Website, which will host Chat Rooms, Forums and a Bulletin Board, also allows browsers to read and participate in the many different activities that are arranged for New York groups and individuals visiting Jerusalem. The Beit New York-Jersualem Website gives the viewer the ability to create their own personal homepage in an effort to create a Cyber Community where communication and correspondence can begin. An information handbook is also available on line, giving general tourist information to visitors of Jerusalem such as a list of restaurants, synagogues and English activities. Non-profit Jerusalem based organizations can speed up the process of requesting and finding volunteers from Beit New York-Jerusalem through the site's on-line capabilities. The same idea is applied to individuals seeking volunteer placements in Jerusalem organizations and groups requiring encounter activities with the residents of Jerusalem.
"The Beit New York-Jerusalem Website will further our aim of giving New Yorkers the chance to "reach out" to Israel while "reaching in" to explore their relationship to Judaism and to the land and people of Israel," said Cindy Breakstone, Director of Beit New York-Jerusalem.
Company History:
Beit New York-Jerusalem was established in 1997 to serve as a center for New Yorkers visiting Jerusalem, and to strengthen the bond between New Yorkers and Jerusalemites, in the framework of Partnership 2000, Jerusalem-New York. The offices are situated at number 10 Safra Square, Jerusalem City Hall, entrance in Tzahal Square, over looking the Old City of Jerusalem.
