FANSonly Network Royaltiy Revenues for Partners Exceeds $1 Million

CARLSBAD, Calif., – Student Advantages FANSonly Network, the webs top-rated college sports site according to Media Metrix, announced that following the fourth quarter of 1999 it surpassed the $1 million mark in royalties earned by its member institutions since the FANSonly Network was founded just over three years ago.

Officially launched in November, 1996 with five schools, the FANSonly Network has grown to its current number of more than 65 athletic partnerships with colleges, universities, conferences, and organizations. The Network, which merged with Student Advantage, Inc. in June, shares the revenue generated by its official athletic sites with each partner institution. Athletic departments, which generally are self-supporting, rely on marketing revenue to help defray operating costs. Those costs typically include scholarships, team travel, recruiting, uniforms, salaries and other expenses.

When the FANSonly Network started three-and-a-half years ago, we assured schools that the Internet would become an additional source of revenue for their athletic departments," said Jeff Cravens, Student Advantage ‘s FANSonly Network vice president and general manager. We feel that having earned over $1 million for our partner institutions in just over three years is a cannon-shot of a statement that the Internet has quickly become an integral part of their overall marketing strategies.

The FANSonly Network provides benefits to its members far beyond quarterly royalty payments. College athletic departments understand the value of communicating one-on-one with their fan base. Effective communication results in increased booster club revenue, merchandise sales, event ticket sales and name recognition.

We are proud that the FANSonly Network been able to fulfill our promise of providing schools with an official athletic website that can fully realize its objectives and successfully meet its challenges."
