D4 Fascination arrives in the US - Official North American Distributor announced

Heubach, Germany / Jacksonville, Florida, USA - February 16, 2000 - The first D4 demo aircraft destined for the US entered the production line. The arrival is expected in April 2000. Harper Aircraft Inc. in Jacksonville Florida has been appointed as official North American distributor, where the new D4 will be flown as a demonstrator.

"We have waited a long time for this day, but it was worth the wait," said Jack Harper, President of Harper Aircraft Inc., North American distributor. "Today we will start an new millennium with an aircraft US customers are looking forward to fly and to own."

Harper Aircraft Inc. has already started to sell D4 airplanes without a demo. aircraft. Three of those airplanes are already in the order pipeline and are scheduled for delivery to customers later this year. Michael Turwitt, Vice-President of Harper Aircraft says: "We have more than 100 requests for a demonstration flight. I am sure customers will be delighted. Many are impressed by the fact that modern structures and lightweight design techniques can enable an aircraft to fly economically without losing any performance by applying a smaller engine. The contrary is the case,... WD Aircraft managed to achieve performance results only possible before with big gas-guzzler engines originally designed in the 50's and 60's."

WD Aircraft and D4 Fascination received the "Aircraft of the Year Award" for the second consecutive year. European pilots elected the D4 Fascination as Aircraft of the Year in the light airplane category for the second consecutive time in 1999. The award is coordinated and presented by the leading aviation magazine Aerokurier. Already last year the D4 Fascination was chosen as best aircraft by European pilots.

"We are very pleased and in fact honored to have received this renowned award for the second time",.. said Wolfgang Dallach, owner of WD Aircraft. "I would like to thank all our loyal customers and the many enthusiast in the pilot community for their trust and support. We will continue to design and to produce outstanding aircraft."

In the late 1980s, the general aviation market was in a slump; due in part to manufacturers producing airplanes without advancing new designs or improving technology, causing buyers to look to the used aircraft and homebuilt kit aircraft market and ignore new aviation products.

Wanting to produce a better airplane for general aviation, WD Aircraft in Germany focused on designing a sleek, technologically advanced, and certified single-engine aircraft. In 1995, Wolfgang Dallach, owner of WD Aircraft, unveiled his new plane, the D4 Fascination.

The creative, talented and experienced team at WD Aircraft in Germany succeeded in creating one of the most forward-thinking aircraft in more than twenty years. For the first time in aviation history it has been proven that high performance, speed and comfort can be combined and achieved with low horsepower.

The two-seat D4 Fascination incorporates a laminar flow wing that helps boost its flight performance to a 190-mph speed, with an efficient 4.5 gallon per hour fuel-burn rate.

Understanding the need for pilot and passenger comfort, WD designers used the roomy interior of an automobile as a model. The cabin includes unsurpassed visibility, well-positioned seats and generous legroom that allow passengers to fly in the same envelope of comfort as the pilot.

Although comfort and performance were key factors in the design of the D4 Fascination, safety was of the utmost importance. The D4 incorporates a wide range of safety features, both mechanically and electronically.

Other safety enhancements include better control and handling, very forgiving stall characteristics and an improved airframe. The most prominent safety item is the Airframe Parachute System. Since 1996 the D4 is one of the few certified airplanes that possesses this incredible safety advancement, designed to deploy and lower the entire aircraft to the ground.

WD Aircraft Corporation (WD Flugzeugleichtbau GmbH) is based in Heubach, Germany. The company designs, manufactures and markets general aviation composite aircraft, incorporating advanced technologies that result in high levels of performance, safety and comfort.
