George Bush Endorsed by "Virtual" Farm Broadcaster
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 1, 2000: Hog Farmer Bill Pleasanton, fictional host of the "Farm Report" Internut Radio Show on DangFunny.com, today endorsed George W. Bush for President.
"I aint happy with either of these candidates" said Pleasanton in today's real audio broadcast from his barn in the fictional town of Bociphus, NJ. "But given the choice, I gotta go with Dubya. Now, his dad's term, didn't exactly, stir the turnips, but I think Dubya can do better."
Why on earth would a candidate care about the endorsement of a voice that is made up of 1s and 0's? Because this virtual voice could influence actual voters. The Farm Report Internut Radio program, broadcast on the Internet in Real Audio and MP3 at DangFunny.com, gets over 5,000 listeners every month.
"My listeners are political people" says Bruce Carlson, creator of the Farm Report Radio Program, and the actual voice behind the virtual hog farmer. "They like political humor, but its funny to them because they have an awareness of issues and they vote. "
But according to Carlson, Vice President Gore should be happy with Pleasanton's endorsement as well. "Because Bill Pleasanton's character is a lampoon, many listeners will do the opposite of what he says. They may say -- if he's for Bush than I'm not!"
The issue that decided Pleasanton: Gun control. "We need guns," Pleasanton said on a past broadcast. "Otherwise our countries gonna be overwhelmed by socialists and Canadians."
The Farm Report Radio Program is available on www.dangfunny.com. Real Audio or MP3 Players are needed to listen to the broadcast.
