SAN DIEGO, CA (April 6, 2000) -- CampusBooks.com, Inc. today announced the launch of the Webs premier textbook comparison shopping site. CampusBooks.com searches over 15 online book sites for real-time pricing and availability on over 3 million new and used books. Students can search for their books by title, author, keyword, and ISBN, and within 20 seconds are presented with a real-time listing of pricing and availability for that book from the various bookstores that are part of the Campus Books network.

With the explosion of e-commerce textbook sites over the past 18 months, students are in need of a one-stop resource that will sort through this information overload and help them find the best deals on their textbooks in the least amount of time. Whereas in the past the problem was not enough competition in the textbook market, with the advent of the Internet the problem today is there are simply too many Booksellers, most of whom claim savings up to 40%". Although many book sites claim these savings, the only way for students to really find out if there are any savings, or inventory, is to compare pricing and availability from various stores. CampusBooks.com offers an ideal mechanism for students to manage all of this information.

In addition, the CampusBooks.com site rates member bookstores according to student feedback. Students can also post their own comments and read comments from other students prior to purchasing their books online. In this way, students can make the most informed purchasing decision in a fully transparent market.

Students need an objective source of information for purchasing textbooks. The online vendors have lost the trust of students because they overstate the time and money savings that students can attain online," said CampusBooks.com founder and president, 27-year-old Alexander Neal. We hope to regain that sense of trust from students by providing them with accurate, real-time information on the pricing and availability of new and used textbooks from a multitude of vendors."

CampusBooks.com is ideally positioned to serve and regain the trust of this niche market with its cutting-edge services. Although other comparison shopping sites exist, none are as focused on the textbook niche or have as much brand-recognition as Campus Books," continued Neal. By positioning CampusBooks.com as a trustworthy, branded B2C Infomediary, we will be uniquely positioned to serve the needs of the 21st century college student."
