FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Funk Pioneer Legends Galt MacDermot, Bernard Purdie and Wilbur Bascomb represent
Nameplate
Rosaries at a major music concert
FlyChica Productions, a costume jewelry manufacturing company, was recently able to
present funk
legends, Galt MacDermot, the composer best known for the revolutionary Broadway
musical, Hair", drummer Bernard Pretty" Purdie and bassist Wilbur Bad" Bascomb
with Nameplate Rosaries at Ultimate Breaks and Beats 2, which was held at 328
Performance Hall in Nashville, Tennessee on April 8th, 2000.
MacDermont, Purdie and Bascomb were both suprised and happy to receive the rosaries
that sported themes related to their long standing careers. Not only did these three funk
legends receive Nameplate Rosaries but so did several other famous music artists. These
included DJ ShortKut, of the world famous Invislbl Skratch Piklz, Peanut Butter Wolf of
Stones Throw Records, Mr. Dibbs of the 1200 Hobos Crew, DJ Signify, Breakestra, John
Doe, Count Bass
D and DJ Egon.
Over the past 3 years, Nameplate Rosaries have been presented to several famous music
artists including
the world famous Beatnuts, 1999 DMC Scribble Jam Champion, DJ Precyse, Atlantas
finest Mitchell Street Crew, Mass Influence, Esoteric, Virtuoso, MadLb, Xzibit, MC
Wildchild and the Bay Areas up and coming rap artists, the Lootpack. Besides rap music
artists, nameplate rosaries are also being represented by 88HipHop.com, Kiwibox.com,
Chicago-Fashion.com and soon Hoodz and Headz Softwearz.
What is a Nameplate Rosary? These one of a kind creations are made exactly as traditional
Roman
Catholic rosaries except they come with a twist. Custom slogans such as Only God
Knows Why", Peace In The Hood" and Be True To Your Style" are spelled out and
placed in the center. Nicknames have become very popular and these are spelled out on
the back.
Christy Lee, founder of FlyChica Productions, originally started making these rosaries as
gifts. With so many people asking where to purchase these unique pieces of jewelry, she
put a price on them and went after stores for distribution. She sells her creations at hip
hop events, to regular customers on an established vending route and
through her website at http://fly.to/flychica. The company is also proud to announce the
grand opening of a new store at the Farmers Market. Nameplate Rosaries may also be
purchased at New Life
Records, The College Crib, Be
True To Your Style Barber Shop and Down South Lowriders, all locations in Nashville,
Tennessee. They
will also soon be available at TheScenes.com, an off-line urban store in Miami, Forida.
Recently FlyChica Productions has been featured in The Arizona Republic, Fashion
Chicago and KiwiBox.com. Currently Nameplate Rosaries are being featured in an online
promotion in conjunction with
KiwiBox.com, a teen Internet site with over 200,00 registered members. The contest
which is called, The 100 Days of Millennium" is a treasure hunt type promotion targeted
to a teen audience.
Over the past 3 years, more than 5,000 custom names, nicknames and themes went on to
Nameplate Rosaries.
What once was an underground fashion trend is growing and expanding into an urban
fashion explosion.
With its headquarters located in Nashville, Tennessee, FlyChica Productions goal remains
to seek more distribution in stores and malls, both national and international.
