Web-a-dex Opens Public Service Page, Praises Netscape

IMMEDIATE RELEASE
11:15 PM CDT
April 22, 2000
SanAntonio, Texas

Web-a-dex Internet Services opened a Severe Weather Center public service page this week, offering a valuable web resource to the community at large. Even though it owns 7 domains and hosts a 44 page home web site, Web-a-dex chose to open the new weather resource as a member of the Netscape Site Central, an internet virtual community. Site Central consists of both personal and business web pages which Netscape hosts at no cost to the user.

The Web-a-dex public service page offers an introduction to the nation's Emergency Alert System which, at the direction of the National Weather Service (NWS)*, issues warnings to the public. These warning statements are released to the internet at the same time they are made public to national and local broadcast media. Currently, however, there is no formal governmental use of the internet as an official weather warning system.

The user friendly page has a chart of links to the NWS Regional Headquarters and explanations on where to find the weather
warning statements as they are issued. An internet user can monitor these warnings for anywhere in the country, live and real time on the world wide web, providing valuable information during bad weather conditions.

Michael Steenbergen, owner of Web-a-dex Internet Services, explains why he placed the public service page on Netscape web servers. "Netscape's free web community is also a notable public service, and a fitting home for the severe weather center. An individual with a hobby or interest, or even a business, can have free web space and, most importantly, easy instructions on how to use it. Web-a-dex started as a single page at Netscape SiteCentral and I will always be grateful."

The new Severe Weather Center page may be found at this web address:

It may also be reached from the weather section or bottom navigation bars on the Web-a-dex home page at:
