New Home for Web TV and Internet Appliance users

Home for Web TV and Internet Appliances
There is a new home for Web TV and Internet Appliance Internet access users. The new home is EasyWeb TV.com http://www.easywebtv.com . What EasyWeb TV.com has done is create the first virtual online community for the Web TV and Internet Appliance users with all of the available services located on one site. Now it is possible for these users to create their own online community with features such as email accounts, guest books, surveys, chat rooms and more. There is even a huge library of available clip art and pictures available. The members of EasyWeb TV.com can create their virtual online community as a personal home page site or a commercial site with their free Web Hosting program. All of the features that EasyWeb TV.com offers are free to the members.

Theres more! With EasyWeb TV.com (ASP) applications program (coming soon) the member will have available a complete office productivity suite. EasyWeb TV.com will be delivering browser-based access to applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software and other software components via the Internet. The ASP applications will be open to virtually any device that can access the Web, from PCs to cell phones, to personal digital assistants. Individual members do not have to install and maintain their applications as they do on a PC because applications reside on the network. As a result, the user is shielded from the complexity of installing, upgrading and maintaining any hardware or software. Since EasyWeb TV.com delivers the applications and administer and maintain the software, individual members simply log on as needed. There all of their personal data and applications are securely stored. What this means to the members is no computers or software to purchase and no more upgrades to worry about. Everything is done on the servers of EasyWeb TV.com.

And still more! Another first for its members is the availability of such free services as Internet access, and (coming soon) long distance phone calls and live voice or text enabled community chat rooms. All that is required from its members is a Web access device, such as Web TV or an Internet Appliance, with a microphone and speakers. Everything is hosted and maintained from the server.

The Web access appliance market is exploding, according to a new survey, and the couch potato using Web TV or any Internet access unit will drive it. Everybody's got a TV, and almost everybody's connected to cable or satellite. With the applications and data stored on the server, members need only a web browser and an Internet connection to log on. Any PC or device anywhere in the world will do. With EasyWeb TV.com, everything can be accessed anywhere, anytime by anyone connected to EasyWeb TV.com via any of a wide variety of browser-enabled devices. EasyWeb TV.com offering interactivity and free online services is the first of a new wave of Internet technology hitting the home, and analysts predict that it will eventually outpace even consumer PCs. "People want to interact with entertainment sources in new and different ways, always looking for a deeper experience," said Steve Perlman, cofounder, president, and chief executive of WebTV, in a statement. The idea is to use WebTV as the bridge between the Internet and television. For example, users would find out what's on TV from the TV Guide Web site with a WebTV Internet terminal. Then, with the same handheld device, they would click to television and watch the show. Next, they could join in on a live chat room for a particular program or they could call a friend in San Diego. All from their TV and all for free.

The market for so-called Internet appliances, which includes TV set-top boxes, handheld computers and gaming consoles, is expected to grow from 11 million units shipped in 1999 to 89 million units in 2004, according to market research firm International Data Corp. The market will grow from revenue of $2.4 billion last year to $17.8 billion in 2004. This is opening the Net to a wide array of non-PC devices like smart cards, phones, set-top boxes, pagers and other appliances, ushering in a whole new world of interaction. A new world that will continue to grow and expand and it appears the EasyWeb TV.com has positioned itself to be first to offer all of these services from one location. Forrester Research predicts that the computing appliance market will grow 300 percent to $16.6 billion in 2002 as companies adopt appliances more rapidly than PCs, thanks to their simplicity, reliability, and lower total cost of ownership. And IDC (International Data Corporation) estimates that by the year 2002, the number of handheld, non-PC devices will soar to 55 million in the United States, rivaling the installed base of home personal computers.

The concept of simple-to-use Net access devices is not a new idea; Compaq Computer (CPQ), Hewlett-Packard (HWP), Microsoft (MSFT) Epods, VirginConnect WebPlayers and Netpliance (NPLI) are developing or offering similar products. Most of the companies that offer Web services, such as Wink (WINK), Worldgate (WGAT), Be (BE), OpenTV (OPTV), Liberate Technologies (LVTO) and TiVo (TIVO), have been focused on providing software infrastructure for interactive TV services. Since each has its own marketing agenda, none offer all of these services in one place, as does EasyWeb TV.com.

Web TV and Internet Appliances are here to stay. They will never replace the PC for Internet access and software programs. But online communities like EasyWeb TV.com, with its full-featured site and free membership, has changed the rules on what the competition will need to have to attract and keep its members.
