Silverthorne Acquires Aquila International Telecommunications
SEATTLE, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Silverthorne Production Company (OTC Bulletin Board: SLTH), an Internet marketer of long distance telecommunications services through its Cognigen division, announced today that it has acquired 100% of the outstanding shares of Aquila International Telecommunications, Inc., in exchange for 2,041,445 shares of Silverthorne's common stock. Aquila is a privately owned, Federal Communications Commission Section 214-licensed interstate and international facilities based carrier located in San Luis Obispo, California.

Silverthorne also announced that the Federal Communications Commission had approved the transfer of control of Aquila's Section 214 license to Silverthorne.

"We are very excited to have completed the acquisition of Aquila and we will immediately integrate Aquila's superior management team, switching platform, data transport expertise and database of approximately 4,600 active customers with our telecommunications products and global distribution network," said Darrell H. Hughes, chairman and chief executive officer of Silverthorne. "The combined competencies should enable us to improve our operating margins and to enhance both our technical service and customer service capabilities," Hughes added.

Silverthorne, through its Cognigen division, is a major Internet marketer of telecommunications products and long distance telecommunications services. Cognigen offers a wide range of domestic and international long distance telephone services, prepaid calling cards, paging and Internet-based and wireless services via the company's Web site www.cognigen.com . Additionally, Cognigen markets to approximately 200,000 customer accounts worldwide through a network of more than 46,000 independent agents, each with a customized website.

Aquila is licensed under the Federal Communications Commission's Section 214 as a global facilities-based/global resale services international carrier.
