PRESS RELEASE:
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 9, 2000 - - Bexar Credentials Verification, Inc. (Bexar CV), Florida Division, proudly announces it is registered as a Credentials Verification Organization (CVO) with the State of Florida for Corestat.
Abigail Stivender, Director of Operations, Bexar Credentials Verification, Inc., Florida Division, stated, This is an important step in keeping up-to-date with the complicated credentialing issues currently in Florida. Bexars purpose is to assist physicians and other healthcare practitioners through the process."
The State of Florida requires that CVOs register with them in order for physicians to designate them to manage their credentialing information on the web-site, CoreStat (www.corestat.net). In order to register, a CVO must be certified by a national certifying organization, such as the National Committee of Quality Assurance (NCQA) or the American Accreditation Healthcare Comission/URAC.
CoreStat is the result of the new credentialing law in the State of Florida. It requires that practitioners (MDs, DOs, Podiatrists, and Chiropractors) keep information updated within CoreStat or face large fines and/or suspension of license. CVOs can take care of this burden for practitioners.
CoreStat also requires that managed care organizations, hospitals, etc. use the WebPage for credentialing if the physician participates. This means that, should a physician participate with CoreStat, healthcare entities will not be allowed to obtain information from the physician if the information is available within CoreStat.
The new credentialing law, Florida Statue 455.557 -- Standardized credentialing for healthcare providers, can be found on the Internet at www.leg.state.fl.us.
Bexar CV is certified for 10 out of 10 verification services by NCQA through July 13, 2001. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is an independent non-profit organization that certifies credentialing verification organizations and accredits managed care organizations.
Besides being a State of Florida registered CVO for CoreStat, Bexar CV also completes credentialing applications (managed care, hospital, workers comp, etc.) for practitioners and offers consulting services to healthcare entities. Bexar CV is endorsed by the Florida Medical Association.
For more information on designating a CVO, application completion or about Corestat, please contact Abigail Stivender, Director of Florida Operations at Bexar CV at (904) 354-0257 or toll free at 888/663-2770.
