Business of Urban Entertainment Conference Comes to DC June 2 -- June 4
Urban entertainment power players will convene at the Radisson Barcelo Hotel in the nations capital on Friday, June 2 for the City Of Dreams (COD) conference. Designed to encompass all facets of urban entertainment, including music, media and sports, the producers are touting COD as the ultimate networking affair for the business of urban culture. More than 1,000 people are expected to turn out for the opportunity to mingle with executive from companies like AKA.com, Bad Boy Entertainment, Black Entertainment Television, Davoucci Sportswear, DME Interactive Holdings, Radio One, Rucker Basketball Tournament, Ruff Ryders and The Source magazine. Another 6,000 people are expected at the official conference after-parties.
While City of Dreams, Inc. is bringing their conference to D.C. for the first time, they actually began presenting the COD conference in 1998, attracting thousands of participants in New York City and Los Angeles. "When we started City of Dreams we wanted to create an atmosphere conducive to learning and networking, where the attendees could get one step closer to reaching their dreams. And for the panelists its a way to give back to the community," says Rameek Jackson, CEO of City of Dreams, Inc. and a former national talent scout for Roc-A-Fella records. We accomplished that in New York and L.A. in '98 and '99. We're continuing that dream in 2000 and expanding our reach by bringing the conference to D.C."
Conference co-founder and George Washington University grad Brian Hellwig adds, We want the attendees to realize that they are not that far away from the other side of the table where the panelists sit. By using the tools and techniques they take away from the seminar, they will be fully equipped to succeed. I am confident that we will see some of them return as panelists."
Panels discussions include The State of Urban Media", Music Marketing 101", The Internet & Urban Culture", and Hip Hop Culture and Sports", and Women in Power". On-site registration is $250 for the three-day event which includes entry into the official after-parties at K:2:9 and Platinum. Full-time students may register at a reduced rate of $100. For more information about the conference call 212-431-5540 or log onto the COD website at www.city-of-dreams.com.
