EnterVision joins Microsoft Windows Media Jumpstart Initiative
For Immediate Release
June 5, 2000
Montreal, Canada-- June 5, 2000 -- BEE Multimedia, an Internet broadcasting software company, announced today it has joined the Microsoft Windows Media Broadband Jumpstart initiative as a broadcasting media technology and services provider. BEE Multimedia builds on the Windows Media technology platform to deliver television-quality viewing over the Internet.
The BEE product line includes the EnterVision Professional Broadcaster, developed for the television broadcasting and cable industries, EnterVision Pro Mini, for e-commerce and corporate use, the EnterVision Video Conferencing system and the EnterVision Home Broadcaster for consumers. EnterVision Professional Broadcaster can be used for direct, live web broadcasting.
Because the EnterVision product line is built on Windows Media and can utilize Windows Media Player, which is a feature of Microsoft operating systems and is the fastest growing digital media player according to PC Data, most end users do not need to download any additional software to see the high-quality live broadcasts. The end user needs only an Internet browser to become part of the convergence generation.
The Jumpstart initiative is an end-to-end, industry-wide effort to accelerate the consumer adoption of broadband technology, increase the availability of broadband content and improve broadband business models. Jumpstart members benefit from working together around a common technology platform.
"BEE's EnterVision line of products demonstrates the power of the openly licensable Windows Media technology platform," said Dave Fester, general manager of marketing for Microsoft's Digital Media Division. "The open makes it possible for companies like BEE to develop solutions for specialized audiences, opening up opportunities for content creators, television broadcasters, movie producers and consumers alike."
While other media players make claims of high quality, live broadcasting, most consumers have quickly realized it is a lot like the story of the Emperors new clothes. No matter how much others may try to convince you that their technology can deliver, the proof remains in the pudding. The others simply cannot deliver the goods. On the other hand, on our site you can watch live broadcasts embedded into a web page or playing through the Microsoft Media Player. And the quality is second to none," said a BEE Multimedia company spokesperson.
Bees Multimedia chose to associate themselves with Microsoft because Windows Media Technologies quality is preferred by users when compared to RealNetworks G2 (http://www.nstl.com/html/windows_media.html).
