Clifford Robinson, creator of the niche-portal Web site credits the popularity solely to the spirit and and word-of-mouth communications of Juneteenth celebrants. "With little or no marketing budget to date, Junetenth.com has managed to top off the major search engines and inform visitors of Juneteenth celebrations from Ancorage Alaska to Guam, " Robinson said. The Web site honors the traditional celebrations that followed upon the news of the Emancipation Proclamation - this news having reached the enslaved in Texas 2 and 1/2 years after the signing. The celebration of Juneteenth today emphasizes pride, continuous achievement and responsibility, and is celebrated across racial lines. Robinson said that he hopes to attract a national sponsor that can provide the resources to take the Web site to the next level in terms of content and functionality. "There is tremendous potential in a site such as Juneteenth.com - one that honors a people, educates and unites all cultures under the banner of freedom," Robinson said.
