FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Florida Fishing/Hunting Licenses Now Available For Purchase On-Line

Bradenton -- For the first time, state of Florida fishing and hunting licenses are now available for purchase over the Internet from the Manatee County Tax Collector's Office by visiting www.taxcollector.com.

"We are excited about offering this new service," Manatee County Tax Collector Ken Burton, Jr. said. "We are always looking at ways to make dealing with our office more convenient, so this was a natural," Burton said.

Licenses purchased over the Internet will be subject to an additional $3.95 convenience fee to cover the costs associated with offering this new service. The Manatee County Tax Collector's Office is first in the state to offer this service by partnering with a private company, Net Effect, Inc. of Bradenton.

"By partnering with a private company there were virtually no start-up costs incurred by the Manatee County Tax Collector's Office," Burton stated. He added, "it's the way that private-public partnerships are envisioned - the taxpayers win by the agency not incurring additional costs and yet the public is afforded an opportunity that would not have been possible without private enterprise's involvement."

Types of licenses that can be purchased over the Internet include residents and non-resident fishing and hunting licenses as well as special privileges such as snook stamps, lobster stamps, etc.

In addition to purchasing licenses over the Internet, licenses can be purchased at county tax collector offices and subagents. Subagents are private businesses that sell fishing and hunting licenses as a convenience to the public.
