The Royal Gardens Lava Tour: Accompanied by our experienced guide you will traverse over six miles of lava flows and enter into the eco-park setting of Royal Gardens. Royal Gardens is an 1800-acre sub-division, completely surrounded and 40% covered by imposing lava flows, the remaining green oasis is a lush transitional tropical rain forest dating back 700 years before present. You will learn about the geologic and social history of the area, which dates back to the 1st century. As well as learning the native flora and fauna which supported the Hawaiian culture. The Lava House Tour: Similar to the above tour plus guests stay in the last remaining home in Royal Gardens. At present vehicular access is limited due to active flows in the area. So access is by 4x4 and hiking. The Lava House offers panoramic views overlooking the coastal plain where the present lava activity is. Night viewing from the Lava House is excellent.
