Personal Knowbase Free-Form Organizer Software
Uses Keywords to Make Your Notes Easier to Find

Pinole, California, August 4, 2000 -- Bitsmith Software has released Personal Knowbase 2.0 for Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, a software program for organizing free-form information using keywords. Personal Knowbase is the perfect tool for organizing research notes, e-mail archives, and more.

Personal Knowbase helps you manage the flood of information that we all deal with every day. By indexing your notes with keywords, you can find related information easily and intuitively. Keywords work in the same way that words in a book index help you find information on a given topic. But in a book index, you can only look up one word or phrase at a time. Personal Knowbase can find notes associated with multiple keywords, with one keyword or another, not associated with a keyword, or any combination of these.

You can enter notes directly, copy text from other Windows applications, or import files from your computer, such as RTF files and HTML files from the Web. The new attachment feature associates disk files and Internet addresses with your notes, so you can access any computerized information using the same set of keywords. The tag feature provides instant access to commonly used notes. Rich-text editing allows you to format notes using fonts, colors, boldfacing, underlines, and italics. You can also sort and retrieve notes based on dates. There is no limit to the number of notes you can store or the size of the notes.

Indexing with keywords sets Personal Knowbase apart from other free-form database software. Simple text searches won't find what you need unless that exact string appears in your notes. With larger databases, searches often find many irrelevant results. Categorizing and subcategorizing in a tree-like outline forces each note to fit into one category, often making information difficult to find. Using keywords, you can cross reference your notes with as many topics as you need. Then you can find them easily by association. Remember, it doesn't matter how easily you can store information if you can't find it.

Personal Knowbase 2.0 costs $39.95 for a single-user license. Volume discounts are available. A fully functional 30-day trial copy of Personal Knowbase is available at http://www.bitsmithsoft.com.
