LOS ANGELES: Bob Wright, President and CEO of NBC and Vice Chairman, Executive Officer of GE will receiving the Founders Award at the 7th Annual "Striving for Excellence Awards & Benefit Dinner" scheduled for Monday, October 9, 2000 at the Biltmore hotel in downtown, Los Angeles.
Bob Wright joined the National Broadcasting Company as president and chief executive officer on September 1, 1986. Now in his 14 th year at the helm of NBC, Wright is the longest-serving president of a television broadcasting company in history. Recently, Wright was named Vice Chairman of the Board,
Executive Officer and a member of the Corporate Executive Office of the General Electric Company.
Under Wright's leadership, NBC has evolved into a global, multimedia company by extending into cable, satellite, international and new media markets. At the same time, Wright has maintained NBC's commitment to its core broadcasting
business by expanding its ownership to 13 broadcast stations across the country.
Today, NBC is the only television network to regularly turn a profit and enjoys programming dominance in late night, morning and news. With highly-rated new shows such as "West Wing" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and old favorites such as "ER," "Friends" and "Frasier," NBC is the top network for accumulating high-income viewers in the demographic categories most
important to advertisers. Among upscale audiences, NBC is number one in both the18-49 and 25-54 demographic and 15 of network television's top 20 upscale shows are on NBC.

Garner, Robert Guillaume and Stephen J. Cannell.
