KENNETH N. NIGON OF RATNER & PRESTIA ELECTED PRESIDENT OF PIPLA
Valley Forge, Pa., August 2000 -- Kenneth N. Nigon, a shareholder with the intellectual property law firm of Ratner & Prestia, has been elected President of the Philadelphia Property Law Association. The term is for one year and officially commenced on July 1, 2000. The Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association promotes the development and administration of the patent, trademark and copyright law, and to further the high standards of professional ethics and promote professional relationships in the intellectual property law field.
Mr. Nigon received a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, a masters degree in electrical engineering/computer engineering from Stanford University and his J.D. degree from Temple University. Prior to going into private practice, Ken was Patent Counsel for the GE and RCA Licensing Management Operations in Princeton, New Jersey, and was also a systems programmer at Burroughs Corporation. Mr. Nigon has authored numerous papers and has spoken on patent copyright protection of computer software. He is a contributing author to Electronic and Software Patents - Law and Practice, published by BNA Books. Mr. Nigon is the Chair of the Electronic and Computer Law Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and a member of the American Bar Association, as well as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He also was the instructor at the 1994 AIPLA Basic Computer and Electronics Practice Seminar and the 1998 AIPLA Advanced Computer and Electronics Practice Seminar.
