WEFA Awarded Study on Cargo Flows
The Central American Commission for Maritime Transport (COCATRAM) has initiated an important study of the potential for increased coastal shipping in the region. The study is being funded by The World Bank and will cover all Central American nations, examining current cargo flows in the region with an analysis of an expanded role for ocean transport. The study was awarded in December 2000, to Port Operations Consultants, London, with WEFA, Inc. of Philadelphia, formerly Wharton Econometric Forecasting Associates.
Alfonso Breuillet, the Executive Director of COCATRAM, says, We expect that this study will define the parameters for a regional shipping company to support the foreign trade of the Central American economies."
