WEB SITE LAUNCHES AS PORTAL FOR CANADIAN WINTER SPORTS

FEBRUARY 12, 2001 (OTTAWA) Candon & Associates is pleased to announce the launch of Snowsports.ca, a Web site geared towards providing winter sports enthusiasts with a one-stop destination for all their information and traveling needs.

Snowsports.ca is a Web site focusing on Canadian winter sports, and offers daily updates on snow and weather conditions and a comprehensive listing of travel destinations. In addition, there are feature stories, tips and tricks articles, reviews on sporting equipment, tools to help visitors plan their ski vacation, and articles and checklists to make sure they get the most enjoyment out of their valuable leisure time. SnowSports.ca also offers a free classified section, where owners can place their winter sporting goods up for sale and connect with interested buyers.

Not only does Snowsports.ca provide the information sports enthusiasts are looking for, but it serves it up in a very attractive and easy-to-navigate package. To ensure they can get to the information theyre looking for quickly and easily, visitors to the site can search the Snowsports.ca database by activity, or by province.

The sports covered by the site include favourites such as snowmobiling, ice fishing and hockey, but of course the main focus is on Canadas most popular winter sport: Skiing. The site caters to those headed for the slopes on either skis or snowboards with a country-wide list of places to go, and daily updated weather and snow conditions for ski destinations across Canada.

Snowsports.ca also offers a special Kids Corner, geared towards younger visitors. Here, kids can find games, cartoons and jokes, or send in their own items of amusement.

As the site grows in readership and participation, it will be the visitors who decide the future of Snowsports.ca. The people behind the site have made it fully interactive, and have allowed the sites visitors to participate in its evolution by conducting polls and encouraging feedback on the stories and features theyd most like to see. Plans for the immediate future includes an e-Commerce initiative that will allow sports enthusiasts to not only plan their winter vacation in Canada, but also to make their reservations and pay for them online.
