'Throwing Shapes'

Ascendance dance company will be resident for two months at Leeds City Art Gallery, where they will create and perform their new dance piece titled 'Throwing shapes'.

The work created will be part of the Art Gallery's season 'What is Art?' and has been funded by Yorkshire Arts.

Visitors to the gallery are invited to watch Ascendance in rehearsal, upstairs in the gallery rooms.

Ascendance will take you through a day in the life at the Art Gallery - 'Watching us, Watching You...'

An educational initiative based on the new piece will commence in the summer term in schools, colleges and community settings within the region.

The company have attracted new audiences nationwide with their accessible dance pieces, which have proved appealing to the everyday person.

After a successful UK tour of their now famous book piece, 'Shenanigans behind the bookshelf' local councils across the country are still taking bookings!
