Mid-States Tool & Machine, a precision machine shop located in Decatur, Indiana recently completed a 7,200 sq. ft. addition, bringing the facility to 24,500 sq. ft. Mid-States decision to increase the size of their bricks & mortar in these economic times illustrates the changing face of manufacturing. This 17 person company grows while larger manufacturing plants downsize or move their operations to areas with lower labor costs. Mid-States Tool & Machine, a family-owned business, builds molds for the rubber and plastics industries. Because the staff excels at manufacturing close tolerance, intricate tooling, cavity tolerances can be held to +/-.0001" if needed. By designing flashless" molds (meaning that there is little or no trimming needed after the parts are removed from the mold), Mid-States customers save both time and material when making molded parts.
