Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for Documentary
DCvers songs featured in 2001 Sundance award winning film
Local New York City country-rock band recently found themselves in the limelight when a film, featuring four of their original songs, won the coveted Grand Jury prize for best documentary at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. Southern Comfort, a film by Kate Davis, just opened for a two-week run at NYCs Film Forum and has been picked up by HBO for a fall television debut.
The DCvers, who have been part of the NYC music scene since moving from the Washington, D.C. area, are fronted by singer Julianne Ausum and are backed by singer/guitarists Dan Wray and Peter Frank. The DCvers rhythm section features bassist Jim Fenhagen and drummer Beau Brady.
The DCvers, no strangers to good fortune, were semi-finalists in a talent search sponsored by Jim Beam" which culminated in a televised live performance at the Wild Horse Saloon, one of Nashvilles preeminent venues. The band has also been seen on VH-1s Country Countdown backing Travis Tritt at NYCs Rodeo Bar and their music has been featured on WABCs daytime drama, All My Children".
The DCvers are currently preparing material for recording and future performance dates. They can be reached on-line at www.dcvers.com.
