Mona Lu has just been named Editor at Cutting Vision!

Having worked at the New York based post-production facility, Cutting Vision, for the past two years as a junior editor, Mona Lu has recently been promoted to a full fledged editor. Jeff Beckerman, founder of Cutting Vision, revealed that over the past 2 years, Mona has really familiarized herself with what we do here. She has worked with me on numerous projects which have provided her with the necessary experience to develop efficient and effective editing skills. This is important because good editing comes with time and practice." Mona feels similarly as she expresses how invaluable the past 2 years as a junior editor have been. There are various techniques involved in editing and it was only through practice that I was able to recognize the appropriate technique to apply to any given project. But it was not only important that I become familiar and comfortable with the software and equipment, I also needed to understand the industry and our clients in order to take the right creative approach. This was essential in establishing confidence and credibility in both me as an editor and my work."
Currently, Mona is working on the Cingular Wireless campaign via The Vidal Partnership using an Avid Media Composer 9000 to edit offline and finish uncompressed 1:1 online. Mona expresses that though I dont want to give too much away, the campaign is fun and humorous so there were many ways for us to handle it. However, it was important to find the perfect way to cut and match this humor without losing any of it. There is definitely a certain amount of aesthetics involved." Some other recent projects she has worked on include television commercials for Advil, Fit, and Colgate.
Prior to joining Cutting Vision, Mona has had over 8 years of experience, from editing corporate videos to commercials for broadcast television. She spent several years as a freelance Avid editor and sound editor working on music videos, movie trailers, and television commercials. Over the years she has also become proficient in several editing systems including Avid, Video Cube, and Sony 9100. Having edited for so long Mona reveals, Its something Ive always wanted to do, be visually creative just to tell good stories. I dont think I know how to do anything else anymore!"
