Congress New Kings Revealed

Meet the Unknown People Who Control Your Tax Dollars

Arlington, VA -- Today, YourCongress.com announced its 54 Kings" section is now available, providing Americans with a look at the mostly unknown 54 Representatives and Senators who divide up the $1.9 trillion collected in federal taxes. In Washington-speak, these politicians are called Appropriations Cardinals." YourCongress.com calls them Kings," as in, Its good to be the king." Due to turnover and committee term limits, this Congress has a new batch of Kings.

Most of Congress Kings are virtually unknown. For example, four men youve probably never heard of - Congressmen Jerry Lewis (R-CA) and Jack Murtha (D-PA), and Senators Ted Stevens (R-AK) and Daniel Inouye (D-HI) - personally divide up $280 billion, an amount equal to the GNP of Argentina.

On todays announcement, Porter said.

YourCongress.coms signature is taking citizens behind-the-scenes on Capitol Hill. The 54 Kings, also called Appropriations Cardinals, are extraordinarily powerful people who control billions of tax dollars -- and theyre virtually unknown. Were proud to introduce the 54 Kings to the American people, explain how much money they control, and give average citizens the chance to ask for their moneys worth."

The 54 Kings also provides information on Congress 13 annual spending bills and how much each one costs, the low-down on some programs -- familiar and unfamiliar -- that are in each bill, and a look at what an average citizen can ask of his or her local Congressperson that the Kings can give.

To learn about the 54 Kings, visit http://www.YourCongress.com, scroll to the Your Money" section, and click on 54 Kings." The 54 Kings section also includes links to the YourCongress.com Congressional Directory, allowing constituents to track their own Congressman/woman and Senators for free, instantly communicate with Congress, or even write his or her own bill.
