Miss Fortune selected as semi-finalists in Indie Band Search
Boston power-pop quartet Miss Fortune has made the cut of 20 semi-finalists in ModMusic's Indie Band Search 2001. Over 600 artists entered the national competition. The 20 semi-finalists will be presented to an executive judging panel, who will post 10 winners on April 16th.
The Indie Band Search is a national competition that gives independent musicians, artists, songwriters, and bands a chance to be heard by entertainment industry professionals and compete for prizes worth over $10,000. This is not the first award for these melodious rockers: Miss Fortune won an unsigned band competition in December put on by Unsigned America and NOMA Music. Their debut release has been nominated for a 2001 Boston Music Award in the "Best Indie Debut" category, and is currently in rotation at over 100 college stations nationwide. All 45 Urban Outfitters retail locations are playing the CD in-store as well.
The band released their debut on startup label What Kinda Records at the end of October 2000 and are still independent, much to the surprise of several reviewers. They have just returned from an East Coast tour of clubs and colleges. For more information, please visit www.missf.com, email info@missf.com or call 617-834-8558.
