Boston band Miss Fortune heads north for Canadian Music Week
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Boston, MA -- March 26, 2001
Boston pop-rockers Miss Fortune will cross the border this week for their first appearance in Toronto at the Molson Canadian Music Week festival.
Miss Fortune is scheduled to play at Cameron House in Toronto this Friday, March 30 at 12 midnight, one of 250 showcases taking place March 29 - April 1 at 25 venues in the greater Toronto area. The festival and conference are "the music industry's pipeline to the hottest new independent bands and major label rising stars from across North America and around the world."
The bandmembers are excited to play for a Canadian audience, since the music industry in Canada seems to be more receptive to their brand of melodic power-pop than the metal-saturated American market is. "We can't get enough of [Canadian acts] Starling and Matthew Good Band, and we're huge Bryan Adams fans," says guitarist Jay Barclay. The band has been caught covering Adams' "One Night Love Affair" at recent shows without a trace of
irony.
