DogonVillage.com to Release Guide to Multimedia for People of Color; Bonus CD-ROM Includes Special Small Business Section

In their continuing efforts to "bridge the digital divide" DogonVillage.com will release the second edition of their Guide to Multimedia for People of Color on April 20. Distributed at events, schools, and community centers across the country, the guide provides an Internet tutorial, multimedia updates, and a listing of websites relevant to people of the African Diaspora. A bonus CD-ROM, "The Internet on a Budget Kit," includes free software, audio,
video, a small business guide, and a special section that enables individuals not connected to the World Wide Web to engage in a "simulated surf."

"It's great that the 'digital divide' has garnered so much media attention, however, the reality is that many of the people that we need to reach are not reading the papers or watching the news," comments executive producer, Edrea Davis. "Our Guide to Multimedia is part of DogonVillage.com's ongoing effort to reach out to the 'unconnected' in the communities where they live," she adds.

For over five years DogonVillage.com has worked to bridge educational and technological divides in the Black Community by providing free websites and hosting, free Internet access, and web development and training for over 60 Black organizations, businesses, and artists, including the National Coalition On Black Civic Participation, SCLC/W.O.M.E.N., Inc., DoctorLad.com, The Negro Spirituals, MLK March Committee, and the Benjamin E Mays National Educational Research Center (BEMNERC).

DogonVillage.com was responsible for mobilizing the Black Community in Arizona for the first legally sanctioned online elections by setting up computer access in barber shops, churches, and community centers allowing people to register and vote online. They have participated in a number of events including the annual "Spirit of Democracy Awards," "African American Heritage Tour," and the "United Nations Conference on Climate Change," in The Netherlands. And, through a partnership with BEMNERC, DogonVillage.com provides training, computers, and Internet access for underprivileged youth in Clayton County, Ga.

Named after the ancient Dogon tribe of Mali, DogonVillage.com is a grassroots site dedicated to connecting the African Diaspora. A visit to http://www.dogonvillage.com will find entertainment, commentary, criminal justice, kids, careers, Afro-Latinos, Africa, links to over 1000 Black websites, and a special "Front Page News" section with links to Black Newspapers nationwide.

Black organizations are urged to email web addresses to guide@dogonvillage.com or visit http://www.dogonvillage.com for more information on the Guide.
