Comedians Unveil High-Tech Comedy Learning System

April 6, 2001

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Can you learn stand-up comedy from your computer? If you have sense of humor that translates well on stage, that option will be available soon, thanks to technology and the work of two San Diego, California comedians.

Steve Roye and Paul Stoecklein have produced interactive educational products that, according to them, may have a significant impact on the way the comedian of the future develops stand-up comedy material. The comedians have used state-of-the-art software technology to create products for teaching prospective comedians about writing, performing, and marketing a comedy act.

We are breaking new ground, says Stoecklein, co-founder of Baquay Publishing, the company formed by the comedians. These interactive guides are a first just in the delivery mechanism alone. You wont find anyone else offering interactive learning products in the realm of stand-up comedy. Students can sit in front of their computer at home and learn from a real, working stand-up comedian, with audio and video examples to help."

But its not just the delivery mechanism that is unique. The methodology and approach to the art and craft of stand-up comedy promoted by this pair of comedians is very different from the methods that have been taught for years and are still being taught today.

Audiences have evolved," says Roye, author of the interactive guides. So have comedians. But the methods used by comedians today are basically the same as those used 50 years ago. Its time for some drastic changes that reflect stand-up today."

The duo hopes to offer a fresh alternative to the educational choices available to learn stand-up comedy. The author also points out that many of the most popular books on the subject today arent even written by comedians.

Baquay Publishing is searching for candidates (current or prospective stand-up comedians) to review and test their interactive products. There is no cost involved to participate. In fact, all participants who complete the testing will receive the products at no cost. Anyone interested in being a part of the review process can find out more at http://www.killerstandup.com.
