HELPING CORPORATE AMERICA "OUT OF THE CLOSET" TO INCREASE THEIR BOTTOM LINE

Syracuse, New York - April 19, 2001 -- Advertising and marketing partners Jeff Garber and Dan Fedrizzi formed OpusComm Group, Inc. in an effort to target more diverse niche markets, specifically directed towards the gay/lesbian sector.

After founding the highly successful JSG Communications over fifteen years ago, Garber and Fedrizzi saw the need to find new ways for clients to produce new streams of revenue in a slowing economy.

  • deliberately positioned OpusComm as an agency possessing mainstream experience, as opposed to existing Gay/Lesbian agencies who have an easier task in assessing clients with gay-oriented products in an already pre-disposed market," explains Garber. "The new challenge is to demonstrate how major mainstream consumer products should approach this lucrative market effectively and have a substantial impact on their bottom line."

  • Gay/Lesbian community is over 27 million strong and represents both the fastest growing segments in print media and the Internet population. With 59% reporting a household income of over $50,000.00, 89% say that they "go out of their way to buy products that advertise to gay consumers".

OpusComms task is to educate mainstream consumer-based companies who have an ideal product line and should pursue the Gay/Lesbian market. "By seeing gay creative in mainstream media, its a symbol that the company is not embarrassed to show their support," says Garber. "Companies never ran the risk of embarrassment when running in The Advocate because straight America would never see it."

Targeting Gay Community -- p. 2

Garber believes society as a whole has made it socially acceptable for corporations to target this niche market without fearing a backlash. "The change in attitude can be traced to the entertainment industry with breakthrough shows like "Ellen" and "Will & Grace", making it acceptable to openly discuss gay issues. Its no longer a taboo subject, which empowers advertisers to market directly to the gay/lesbian community."
