The crowning jewel of Walt Disney's Theme Park, Cinderella's Castle, was allowed to be taken "siege" for just one night, Tuesday, March 6, 2001, for a very exclusive and unforgettable birthday party for one of the wealthiest men in the country and 20 VIP guests. ME Productions (ME), Florida's largest full service destination management and production company, was selected to produce this highly coveted event.

ME partnered with Walt Disney World on even the most minute details to ensure a totally fabulous event. From the Hall of President's cocktail reception to the savory dinner, closing fireworks show, and entertainment, the A-list party-goers enjoyed a spectacular event. The evening started with a courtly reception as butlers passed an array of canapes, wine, and champagne in the Hall of Presidents. A vocalist accompanied by a pianist on a baby grand piano provided musical entertainment. Scattered tall boys with satin floor length linens and exquisite centerpieces of tea roses surrounded votive candles. Atop the baby grand piano, an ornate candelabrum rested upon a regal runner.

As the party then gathered in front of Cinderellas Castle, the fanfare of four Herald Trumpeters announced their arrival. A formal invitation from Prince Charming invited the group to attend the Royal Ball. Suddenly, the sky came to life with a brilliant burst of colorful lights, followed by the Herald Trumpeters fanfare, beckoning one and all to approach the castle doors.

Upon entering the Castle, the scene left all breathless. Guests walked past giant mosaic renderings of the Cinderella fairy tale. Classic works of art were complemented by thousands of beautiful 24-carrot gold tiles. Table settings were richly accented. Black floor length linens draped each table. Gold-trimmed black napkins, wrapped with gold tassels, set beside gold charger plates. Delicate china, lead crystal glasses, and Christophle Villandry Silver completed each setting. Crowning each table was a golden candelabrum with jewel tone crystal chards. Florists carefully arranged fresh burgundy roses and ivy, white orchids, and vibrant greens at each base.

As guests dined, Cinderella's fabulous Golden Carousel provided a brightly lit and rotating backdrop while a full service banquet was made the merrier as dramatic vignettes portraying the story of Cinderella were presented by Disney's traditional costumed characters retained exclusively for this event.

Following dinner, guests enjoyed a beautifully decorated Birthday Cake shaped to resemble the Castle. And, everyone was astonished to see one of the last viewings of the Electric Light Parade, due to be discontinued April 1, 2001.

Guests then proceeded to Main Street, USA, for their departure. Suddenly, TINKERBELL flew from the top of Cinderella's Castle and a fireworks show set the night ablaze with fountains of light high above Cinderella's Castle. A special "Kiss Goodnight" message was synchronized to the tune of "When You Wish Upon A Star," thanking this special group for celebrating their special event. Cinderellas Castle shone brightly under an array of colored lights.

As this magical evening concluded, the elite guests were escorted to their waiting limousines. The cost for this remarkable extravaganza? About $135,000.
