HOW IT ALL BEGAN:
In March 2000, Canadian indie artist Karen Kosowski set out to prove that women can be the coolest computer geeks around when like a mad scientist, she began mixing her self-taught web design and journalism skills with her firsthand experience as an indie musician. Two months later the first incarnation of Estrogen Music -- 'The Hub for Independent Female Musicians on the Net' appeared online, and began systematically blowing apart and rebuilding the way in which the net represents female musicians, and at the same time making strong improvements on how all music is celebrated and examined online. Inevitably the net began to take notice, Estrogen Music has quickly grown into an active community of artists, journalists and fans who want a quality alternative to free-for-all Mp3 sites.
