WASHINGTON D.C. -- The first step is free, fast and individuals can study from their own homes.
The International Alliance of Grant Writers and Nonprofit Consultants (IAOGWANC) has designed a series of nonprofit management courses that allows individuals to study at home, at their own pace. The courses are taught using a voice lecture technique, according to Mike Parker, Alliance director. Study guides and case studies are also available for most the courses, she said.
Because the program is new, the Alliance is offering readers a chance to test a course free of charge. All courses are available for the $25 membership fee, plus cost of the study guide. Instruction is provided until a passing grade is given on the module, according to Mike Parker.
Courses available include:
 CNC Designation, which includes profit planning, nonprofit law, marketing, board and public relations, financial and human resources management, and more.
 CGA Designation, which includes finding and writing grants, desktop publishing and writing styles, nonprofit ethics, and more.
 Employee communications; external communications; public relations; program management; marketing; ethics; grant reviewing; letters of support; and web-based funding sources, among others; and
 A telecourse on A-21: An Office of Management and Budget Circular is also offered.
Several Nonprofit Management University Certificate Programs are also offered, including the Certificate in Grantsmanship, which has a national focus featuring successful writers and foundation representatives as presenters.
A Certificate in Nonprofit Entrepreneurship, a Certificate in Volunteer Leadership and Administration, and a Development Director Certificate are also available through the program.
We are excited to be able to offer such a wide range of courses and certification programs," said Mark Parker.
The Alliance provides support for grant writers, consultants and the independent sector. Its goal is to lead grant writers, nonprofit consultants, nonprofit organizations, employees and volunteers in providing top-notch services, according to Mike Parker.
This is the perfect opportunity for consultants and grant writers to educate themselves in all aspects of the nonprofit sector," said Mike Parker. These are also great refresher courses for those who are already working in a nonprofit capacity."
