ABS/Plus Package for Dawning Technologies ResultNet/Plus Software Provides Automatic Fall-Over Protection and Peace of Mind

Fairport, New York - May 1, 2001 - Today, Dawning Technologies, Inc. released the latest addition to its ResultNet®/Plus communication software suite, ABS/Plus. The Automatic Backup System is designed to enable automatic fall-over to a backup ResultNet system in the event the primary system fails, providing a seamless transition to the backup until the primary system comes back online.

The ABS/Plus architecture consists of two Windows NT/2000 workstations, a Primary System with ResultNet/Plus and a Backup System with the ABS/Plus package, running concurrently on a local area network. ABS/Plus maintains a current image of the Primary Systems configuration, including all instrument and ancillary interfaces being controlled. Upon detection of a failure of the Primary System, ABS/Plus will start ResultNet/Plus on the Backup System and transition all host and interface communications to the Backup System until normal operation can be restored. One or more emails are automatically generated, alerting key personnel to the Primary system failure and fall-over.

John Selmyer, Dawning Technologies President stated, the ABS/Plus addition to our ResultNet/Plus suite provides our clients the technology they need to maintain peak lab efficiency. With a minor incremental investment, lab personnel will be assured of uninterrupted processing of critical test requests even during a system failure."

ResultNet/Plus is designed for use with Dawning interfaces and serves a variety of ancillary system connections. This innovative software solution manages multiple instrument data, standardizes it into HL7, ASTM or Dawning Common Data Format, and transmits it through a network connection to host information systems.
